Salsa Montuno & Cha Cha Cha

Hi Folks

Everybody loves a bit of Latin American music don’t they? No?? Well they should! The rhythms of the music of Cuba and the Caribbean are amongst the most compelling in the musical world and have been informing western popular music for over a hundred years.

In this lesson I demonstrate two main patterns, the first for Salsa (known as a salsa “montuno”) and the second for the slow dance form of “cha-cha-cha”. These riffs are fun and easy to play, and to get the most out of them you’ll want to play them with the percussion backing tracks I’ve thoughtfully provided. Now all you’ve got to do is work out where the “one” is and play away!
